Live Classical Music Performances

Established in 1950, Lockerbie and District Music Society aims to provide a balanced and diverse programme of classical music in a relaxed atmosphere over its concert season from October to February each year. Visiting professional musicians, both soloists and ensembles, are selected to provide top quality live performances in a series of concerts covering a wide range of content. Repertoires cover the classics to occasional contemporary works, with the December concert normally featuring a major vocal performance. The Society is able to present professional musicians of a very high standard by virtue of subsidies from Chamber Music Scotland (CMS), funded by Creative Scotland. The Society is grateful to CMS for their continued support and to the Lockerbie Trust.

Usually, the Society promotes monthly concerts from October to February inclusive, normally on the second Tuesday of each month. ‘Because of the situation pertaining since March 2020, the 2020-2021 season has been suspended. We hope to start afresh in October 2021.’

There is no need to be a member of the Society to attend its concerts. Visitors are made very welcome to any or all of its concerts and tickets are available on the door (free entry for school children). Where possible, the Society also arranges workshops in partnership with local schools.
